Day 20: Thrift store

Prom dress

A lace appliqué covered the high
luster of buttercup satin.
I found it at a thrift store
downtown, Dapper Dan's -
owned by a guy named Norm.

I was 16, and it was $13 -
the warp-dominated weave,
a minimum number of interlacing - fit my high
school body quite well.

As I slipped it on in a
phone booth dressing room, I noticed
the gloss of the surface,
the dull back.
