Day 10: Lobject's Secret Crush

Dear Diary, He nodded.
Dear Diary, She smiled.

Dear Diary, He went out of his way to hold the door.
Dear Diary, She touched my hand as she walked by.

Dear Diary, He wanted to talk to me today. I could tell.
Dear Diary, She could have said hello, but she didn’t.

Dear Diary, He smiled at another girl. It’s serious.
Dear Diary, She ignored me. I’m crushed.

Dear Diary, He saw me watching and grabbed her hand.
Dear Diary, She asked me to introduce to her my friend.

Dear Diary, He smiled.
Dear Diary, She nodded.

Day 11: Secret Crush

1.   I have a secret to share with you, so look at 7.
2.   This is really hard to articulate, but look at 15.
3.   The answer is to look at 11.
4.   You really are the best to look at 14.
5.   I hope you are not getting frustrated when I say look at 13.
6.   Thanks for your patience and kindness while looking at 4.
7.   But first, look at 3.
8.   This is the last time I’ll as you to look at 10.
9.   What I wanted to tell you is there’s something important on 13.
10. I wanted to let you know:  I have a secret crush on you.
11. I hop you’re still interested when you look at 5.
12. I apologize when you look at 9.
13. I’m not sure how to say this, but look at 2.
14. We’re almost there, so look at 8.
15. You are probably frustrated with looking at 6.

Day 4: Pobject's Secret Crush

We spent that year painting
bottles in oil
and acrylic Aztec gods.

Anna and Tanya and me, we
were tight. We strutted.
We said what we wanted to.
We worked in bold strokes.

Alex was the kid. He
was a mouse, a gray-eyed
owlet in glasses, quiet as a cat.
He was our baby brother. We
unwound our lives in front of him,
playful tangled skeins.

He laughed.
He was wise.

And you? You rarely spoke,
even when we spoke to you.
What was it to you
what she said to her about him,

who then said to me
what I hadn’t heard from her?

What was I to you, my Aphrodite?

You laughed, too. I loved your laugh.
I painted it into my bottles
and my pyramids. It was a sun.

I only told you afterward,
and even then I might, yes I might
have been joking,

but I wasn’t.

"You’re beautiful!"
Yes, you were.

Day 2: Dobject's Secret Crush

To my mandolin.

I smelled your room
the other day; something like red
velvet cupcakes and lemon wood varnish,
I remember the smell, on
a summer day
on the hot pavement
and I heard your voice.
You sounded like mahogany grained hair

in the breeze. I remember;
how we used to hang around
each other’s necks like lemurs. We almost looked
like the boys and girls
softly cradling their guitars
from the flea market  in a quiet corner;
but you and I were custom fit
for each other. They used to stare us up

and down from the
corners of their eyes
and tell me how
lucky,
I was  to have
you.--
My fingers are softer
since I the last time

I touched you.
We’re both a bit rusty
since last I
took you out.-- But you know,
I’m busy. I’ve got school,
and a job, too…
I regret you’ve been
waiting so long

in the backseat of my car,
under some scattered
things.
I need to remember to
take you out, and show you
the sun, the rain again… I’d show
you off around town again.
Maybe we could even play

again, like
old times.
I’ll brush your
bronze and silver,
and strum my fingertips
on the back of your smooth neck

like we used to in
the silent midnight
of my room,
my head
hung
over yours.
Would you like that?

Could you forgive
me?
I miss you,
as fully as
a nearly-complete
puzzle misses
a single
piece.
